ENVIRONMENTAL NETWORKS

Environmental networks result form spatial and functional connections that support the use of the natural resources. These are relationship networks, but also territorial morphologies, planned by the interaction between anthropical enterprises and ecosystems. They cross urban spaces and put them in relation with internal and external environmental contexts and systems, contiguous, but also far from the city system. They plan landscapes, but also organize production systems. In the same way, environmental networks are planned and institutionalized by controlling and recovering strategies, by landscape governance politics.
The session on environmental networks proposes to focus the attention on the circulation of the energetic and productive resources, the draining and the recycling of the wastes, the usage of the ground as a environmental resource and, also, the connections between settlements (production settlements, residential settlements), the reutilization of the degraded zones, the healthiness, the realization of green areas for the free time and the cultural and political elaborations concerning the general subject.

The topics will regard mainly the contemporary periods, focusing the attention to the most innovative environmental politics in a general perspective centred on the subject of the “urban sustainability”.
