The city and the networks
IV AISU Congress
Milan, 19-20-21 February 2009
A call for papers has been organized for upcoming congress of AISU Association that will take place in Milan on February 2009.
The deadline for submitting all the papers is 23rd March 2008.
The topic of this Congress will be the city and the networks, both real and virtual: water and mobility networks, environmental and energy networks, knowledge and exchange networks, water networks, reception and solidarity networks.
Considering realized, planned or only desired system, the study of urban networks needs a comprehensive view able to set in a wide context regarding historical and territorial aspects.
The result of this approach will be the final setting of every single case, correctly drawn and analyzed, as a part of a more complex system: the goal will be more to define some interrelations than to study the single episodes, even interesting and significant.
The aim of a network consists in a continuous interaction between all the consisting knots and segments. A fundamental importance is the relation between the single fragments and the totality; another aspect of interest will be, in particular cases, the connection with a possible referring model.
In his potential huge extension, the topic needs to be restricted to a possible time and space limit. Also in this case, the chosen argument for the IV Congress is defined at the border between different specialized aspects: in this way it will be analyzed and compared with different methodological and chronological approaches.
In the topic development will be involved different subjects and branches of learning: it will be the occasion to promote an exchange at the base for a wide reflection, main aspect of the multidisciplinarity of our Association.
